Daisy Ridley is grilled for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker spoilers by a host of fellow Disney stars in a hilarious new video. Thanks to the veil of secrecy surrounding the ninth and final chapter of the Star Wars saga, fans are mostly in the dark about what is set to transpire when Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren and company return for the trilogy-capping Rise of Skywalker.
Of course, a few Rise of Skywalker details have been allowed out via early teasers, including the shocking return of Emperor Palpatine aka Darth Sidious. It’s also known that Lando Calrissian is back for one last spin in the Millennium Falcon, joining fellow original trilogy characters Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, all of whom are back in some capacity (Carrie Fisher of course passed away but Leia is back thanks to Force Awakens outtakes). There will also be some new characters on board for the final film, but it’s not yet known how they will ultimately figure into the action.
Given all the secrecy around Rise of Skywalker, the pressure is on the movie’s stars to keep their lips zipped when it comes to spoilers. Of course, there will always be insidious people who wish to grill Ridley and company about the movie’s plot and make them spill the beans. In a hilarious video posted by Beauty and the Beast star Josh Gad (who is known for previous efforts to wring spoilers out of Ridley), the Rey actress is positively interrogated by a host of Disney stars including Anna Kendrick, Paul Bettany, Kumail Nanjiani, Tina Fey and even her own Star Wars co-star John Boyega, but Ridley remains steadfast in the face of all the questions. Obviously, the main spoiler fans want spilled involves Rey’s parentage, which was brushed off as a non-concern in The Last Jedi but may in fact return as a major issue in Rise of Skywalker. Fans also want to know if Rey and Kylo Ren have a romantic connection that will be revealed in the new film, though director J.J. Abrams somewhat threw water on that notion when he recently debunked a big Reylo fan theory.
No doubt Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will contain some big surprises as Abrams and company go all out for the saga’s finale, (indeed, the film does contain at least one big twist according to Richard E. Grant), and it’s refreshing to know that those surprises will indeed remain under wraps until the film actually arrives. Despite a few close calls, one involving Boyega and a script that got out of his hands, spoilers have been kept to a minimum for the movie and that is great news for fans.
