16 – Friendlier Forest Farm mod

Note: You will need the SMAPI and Content Patcher in order to use this mod.

While the Forest Farm is one of the choicest layouts of players in Stardew Valley, there have been some grouses regarding the same. For example, there is a large pond in the middle of the area which prevents you from creating a path linking the topmost and bottommost exits in the map. There are three little tiles amid the grass just above this pond that prevent you from planting fruit trees. Fortunately, this convenient new mod by Treppan corrects these gripes by filling the left half of the pond and removing some of the grass and the little pond in front of your house. This allows you to have more tillable land in front of the house, without altering the overall landscape much.

Apart from this, the mod comes with a fix to allow you to plant fruit trees in the grassy area just north of the large pond. Considering how an already engaging map is improved by virtue of this, this is one of the best newly released mods for Stardew Valley. We highly recommend it.

13 – Tillable Ground

This is another simple but useful and convenient mod by Hawkfalcon that allows you to make any random tile in the game fit for farming, or tillable/diggable. If you come across one of those annoying unworkable squares of land while preparing an otherwise perfect farm, you can convert it into a tillable tile to finish that perfect farm you had been creating.

This efficient mod ranks at number thirteen on our list.

12 – Data Layers

The farming in Stardew Valley is not as simple as it seems. There are quite a few complicated mechanics involved in it. This useful mod by Pathoschild provides useful overlays that show the coverage of your farming tools and whether you can build on a particular spot or not. You will be able to move through a number of levels, each featuring certain overlays that will help you plan your farm and buildings more effectively.

This handy mod ranks at number twelve on our list.

11 – Garden Village Store Expansion

This is a useful and large mod that introduces a beautiful new Garden Village to your map! This scenic locale features six all-new shops, including a flower shop, a bakery, a machine shop, a restaurant, crafts, and curtains. There are crops and various recipes available to purchase in the shops every day. It spares you from the stress of going through all those pages in Pierre’s menu. You will be able to visit this village via the bus.

For its usefulness, this mod ranks at number eleven on our list.

10 – Winter Crops Mod

This is a pretty popular mod that introduces all-new winter crops in the base game. It features seven new crops, two fruit-bearing trees, and two flowers, all of which are exclusively grown in winter. The crops include Winter Squash (which also comes in a unique giant variety), Iceberg Lettice, Brussel Sprouts, and Nettles. There are also three new artisan items and ten innovative cooking recipes included in this mod. As an additional benefit, you will not be exclusively dependent on the greenhouse in winter anymore!

Considering all of the above features, this mod comes at the tenth place in our list.

09 – Ali’s Overgrown Fairy Buildings Mod

We know that fairies may not be up to everybody’s alley, but this mod is so cute that it might just change more than a few opinions in that regard. On applying this, the textures of all the buildings in your farm change to pink and white. They also get wreathed in beautiful flowers and creepers. Notice how the Slime Hutch turns into a cute cottage, complete with a beautiful garden of flowers. Is that not just so sweet? This mod goes quite well with Ali’s Flower Grass, which will turn the long grass in your farm into colorful wildflowers.

The vibrant and eye-pleasing aesthetics of this mod have earned it the ninth place in our list.

08 – Friends Forever Mod

It is no secret that running a huge farm can be an extremely hectic and tiring business. And still, your fellow villagers get pissed at you for forgetting to greet them every single day. This mod helps alleviate these woes of yours by doing away with the friendship degradation concept in Stardew Valley. As a result, you can go and greet your neighbors when you please, rather than compulsorily. This mod does not apply to your spouse, though. So you will still have to give him/her proper attention, as you should!

This useful mod ranks at the eighth position on our list.

07 – More Recipes Mod

One of the delights of Stardew Valley is the chance to cook delicious food using the crops you grow and the artisan ingredients you create. The More Recipes mod offers even a wider variety of cuisine in your kitchen to satisfy your cooking delight. Its follow-up mod, Even More Recipes, acts as a great companion to it. It also goes well with the Extended Fridge and Remote Fridge Storage mods, which help enhance your storage options.

This mod has been ranked at number seven on our list.

06 – Teh’s Fishing Overhaul Mod

While the fishing mini-game is not outright hard in Stardew Valley, Teh’s Fishing Overhaul mod allows you to have a much smoother and hassle-free experience. Fish will be likely to fail to notice you, which will allow you to catch them more easily. Moreover, you can stack up a number of consecutive catches as well. You will be able to win the fishing achievements in the game more easily as a result

This handy mod ranks sixth in our list here.

05 – Chests Anywhere Mod

You never know when an emergency strikes. Usually, you can just walk home and transfer objects if you urgently need anything from your chest. But what in the middle of a crisis? Fortunately, the new Chests Anywhere mod helps you access your chests from any place out there. On pressing the required key, all your chests will be opened and arranged in inappropriate categories for convenience. You can now go out mining, battling, and traveling without worrying about running out of inventory space anytime soon!

This mod comes in two different forms – Unlimited (which provides ubiquitous access) and Balanced (which only allows you to access chests near you).

Considering its usefulness, the Chests Anywhere mod ranks at the sixth position in our list.

04 – The Tractor Mod

This is definitely one of the most popular and helpful mods out there. By applying this, you obtain a sturdy in-game tractor that helps you speed up all your farming work by a considerable degree. Apart from cutting and harvesting at a fast rate, it helps to plant seeds and apply fertilizer to your crops at a surprising speed. You can put all those heavy tools to rest and enjoy the experience of being a modern farmer with this snazzy vehicle in possession!

This innovative mod ranks fourth in our list.

03 – NPC Map Locations Mod

Locating NPCs in Stardew Valley is one of the most irritating and cumbersome tasks in the game. You need to be familiar with their individual schedules and spend a lot of time tracking them down in the, well, considerably large map. And on top of it, you might arrive at the required place only to discover that the character you need has moved off in the time it took you to arrive! Thankfully, the NPC Map Locations mod allows you to instantly locate any citizen in the town using your map. This will make it easier for you to give them gifts and strengthen your bond with them.

This is another useful mod that bags the third spot on our list.

02 – Look Up Anything Mod

This is undoubtedly one of the most helpful mods out here. By pressing the F1 key, you can check any object or character and obtain a rich list of details about them. For example, you can learn about the happiness levels of your farm animals, and the strength of their bond with you. You will be able to see any conditions affecting them, their worth, and the goods they are going to produce. It is possible to see what uses a particular fruit can be put to, or how much time a crop will take to mature. All of this will help you save a lot of time and progress steadily in the game.

This appreciable mod is the well-deserved runner up of our list.

01 – Stardew Valley Expanded Mod

What if you are left asking for more after fully exploring the in-game map and finishing the game? Enter the Stardew Valley Expanded mod, which will introduce a whole new village, a newly redesigned farm, and more than 20 fresh districts to Stardew Valley. Apart from this, it even introduces seven new characters for you to interact with, and possibly even start dating! All while staying true to the feel and heart of Stardew Valley.

Truly this mod accomplishes what only a rare few can, and that too with admirable respect and love for the game itself. Therefore, it earns the top spot in our list of Stardew Valley Mods in May 2020. This makes it the best mod in Stardew Valley for the month of July in 2021.
